Handmade Ceramic Stoneware Hanging Vase.
My hanging vases were inspired by the Pitcher plant, I love the form and the form naturally lends its self as a vessel.
To make the vase I start by rolling out the clay and and once I have the shape I need, I roll it around a cylinfer to create the form, I them pinch it to seal the base and use lavender from my garden that I press into the clay and a circle shape tool for the decoration.
Once dry, they go into the kiln for their first Biscuit firing. When the have cooled I can glaze them, I have used an Almond Milk Stoneware Glaze.
The vase can hold water and will take your favourite stems of fresh flowers or wild flowers. An air plant would work really well and also dried flowers. The vase can happily go outside as it is fired to Stoneware 1250 degrees and can go in the dishwasher. The vases can be hung directly on the wall using the hole in the top of the vase with a nail or hang by the string that has been threaded through.
Due to the fact that my items are handmade, you may find slight imperfections in the form, glaze and texture from the handmade process. This is what makes each of them unique.
